Aberystwyth And A Magical Purse

Image
The highlight of this week was going to my most desired location and spending the day with the missionaries there. That place is Aberystwyth, Wales. It is halfway up the west side of Wales and sits in between two large hills. It has a university, and many young people live there. Other than that, it is old folk. The place is just so pretty, though, and one of the furthest areas of the mission to get to. I mean, for just us on Llanelli, we drove for 2 hours to get there, and we are the closest of anyone. Anyway, we drove the tiny roads that curve and swerve, allowing only one car through at a time, all the while the speed limit is 60 mph. You also must be mindful of a random sheep that might be in the road. So much fun! All you non-English/Welsh folks would enjoy the thrill. I was a passenger, but I couldn't look away for more than a few moments, or I would've gotten sick. But we made it. Immediately, we turned up at the industrial estate to go to the church, which is currently ...

Wassup

Hiya! I have to be quick with this one. I went on two exchanges this week, one in Swansea and one in Merthyr Tydfil! They both went great, and we found new people to teach on both. The people, as well, were very friendly. On Sunday, we had a cool miracle where a lady walked into church with her three daughters and said she would like to join. What? Crazy!! So yeah, we will start teaching her this week. Today was busy planning out Uni courses, and for our recreation, we went to a castle and then golfing! Cheers, sport! Llanelli Week 1 And 2

Hiya! I have now moved to Llanelli, Wales (pronounced "Hluh-neth-Hlei"). My companion is Elder Johnson from Las Vegas, Nevada. We have both been out for a while and like to work. My first impressions of Llanelli are that this place is definitely a downgrade in terms of the city. Definitely a bit dodgier and lots of drug users over here. However, we are next to the coast and have had good weather for the past few days. The ward is very nice but quite old. Our teaching pool is a bit small right now, but we have a very solid lady from Zimbabwe whom we teach every day. She is planning to be baptized in about 2 weeks. That is exciting. Her family will be moving over in a few weeks as well, and they will probably be interested. There are also several recent converts who are great fun to be with. We had two surprise trips to Swansea, just 20 minutes down the road. The first time we were planning on tracting some doors, and our tire warning light came on. We went to check, and we had...

Leadership Assignment

Dear Brother and Sister Berry, Elder Caden Berry was recently assigned to serve as a Zone Leader in the Merthyr Zone in the England Bristol Mission.  As a Zone Leader, he will play a vital role in establishing the atmosphere of the zone.  He will be responsible for helping missionaries be better prepared, more spiritually mature, and more persuasive teachers.  As the Zone Leader, he will be setting the example for scripture study, obedience to mission rules and directives, hard work, proselyting skills, and other aspects of missionary work. His responsibilities also include participation in the mission leadership council, supervising and training district leaders, attending district meetings, and reporting to the assistants regarding the progress of the zone. Elder Berry is an excellent missionary, and we will rely on his leadership abilities and his love for the Saviour to accomplish this most important work in this beautiful part of the Lord's vineyard.  Thank you ...
