A Welsh Christmas!

Image
Hiya everyone! It was one crazy week but so memorable. I hope that you guys had a great holiday as well, I would LOVE to hear about it!     So, I know that all you really care about is what a "Welsh Christmas" is like. To be honest it isn't strikingly dissimilar, but just a little more traditional I would say.     __________________________________________     First: Food Like America, the meal is in the late afternoon and it is intended to be all the food for the day. This is known as "Tea".      We had a Brazilian meal on Christmas eve. Sausages and Pork was being grilled OUTSIDE. Really caught me off guard since Christmas is known as a "Sit by the fire, bake in the oven" sort of thing. It was mainly rice with vegetables, meat, roast potatoes, and garlic bread. Later we had a hot chocolate station. I didn't realize that you are supposed to heat up milk AND THEN add the chocolate. They also had no powder mix. It was pure flakes of chocolate,...

Hey dear friends and family.     The holidays are coming up and I hope that everyone is able to enjoy them. It is nice to be with family, have time off, and celebrate the season.     In Newport, Wales the homes that dot the hillside shine as colorful dots of light. The air is fairly cold and foggy. Snow is (hopefully) coming soon. Christmas is a huge holiday over here as well.     For missionary work this week we were able to make a new friend in the house across the street. We met this lady and she was very interested. We gave her a Book of Mormon, shared some beliefs and she even said she will come to church. Never can get our hopes too high though because people break promises all the time.     Then we went to see one of our friends and his family had us in. They were all non-practicing Muslims and we had a great chat. They also said they would come to church.      We all got together as a mission for our Zone Conference with the...

A Normal Week

Good day everyone.      How is everything going? Got any plans for the Holidays?      The week was pretty good.     We have about 6 people we are teaching and 4 of them are making good progress.     One lady we are teaching is doing very well. We asked her to read 1 chapter in the Book of Mormon but she carried on and read like 10. She really likes the message it contains and will come to church hopefully this week. We are excited.      Another guy is a tough one who has been taught for about a year now. Something inside of him is changing though and he is softening up. He is reading the Book of Mormon and coming to church. This guy has very high standards and is a devout Christian. We are excited to see his progress.      This week we had the bright Idea to tract our whole neighborhood. I was surprised with how positive of a response we got. Out of 200ish doors, only 5 or so were slammed shut on us. ...

Hiya everyone!     I want to say that the loss of Wyatt Brown has been terrible to hear about. I have spent nights on my knees on behalf of all those affected. He was a tremendous example of faith in God and in the lives of his peers. He will be missed, but his legacy lives on.     Last Monday we didn't really know what to do because it is too expensive to take a train to Cardiff every week. So we were sitting on the sofa and Elder Morriss pointed out the window and said "See that hill? We are gonna get to the top of that hill today?" So that is what we did. We hiked along these back country roads and through some woods until we made it to the top of that hill. The view was as great as you could hope in a cloudy country and the time away from the noise was peaceful.     Our friend in Sri Lanka is ready to get baptized. There is just such a big harvest over there, that the country is overwhelmed with referrals. So as soon as they get more reinforcements of m...
