Thanksgiving

Image
Hiya everyone.     So this week since no one was celebrating Thanksgiving, the American missionaries got together and we decided to have a feast on Thursday after our weekly district council.     My goodness that was busy. 1. On the way back from the store to buy some ingredients I walked under a window above me. To my astonishment a spray of spit came down upon my face followed by some disgruntled cursing. Nasty, and irritating, but also another chance to rise above the filth of the world.     2. We got up on Thursday and cook cook cooked Roast, Mashed potatoes, Gravy, Peppermint Bark, and Sweet Potato Casserole. Elder Morriss and I could've celebrated ourselves if we had to. Near the end however, Elder Morriss spilled half of the gravy onto the counter which cascaded down the cabinets and onto the floor. The best part was we had to leave to make it on time to our train. And so the mess remained.     3. We CARRIED all of that stuff mentioned 2 mi...

Newport, Wales

Image
Hey Everyone!      I gotta keep it brief this week.      Newport Wales is going great. I have been walking at least 2 miles every single day it is crazy. We live in a WAY NICER FLAT holly cow. I got space. We also live in a sketchy city, but in a non sketchy place, university student housing, let's go.     Our congregation is really small, about 40 people. They just started all going back to church as well in person. Covid isn't over gosh dang.      Today we went to Cardiff, the capital of Wales, and got some good baguette sandwiches, a good look at the Cardiff Castle or at least the grounds of it, and I also got some British clothes including that wonderful long button up coat, oh yeah.     Food for the week: I made bread and butter pudding (Bread buttered and sugared with fruit on top. Layer that twice, pour in some eggs and milk and then bake it in the oven and once you pull it out serve with some hot custard. Super goo...

Transfer #4

Image
Hey everybody!     So a "Transfer" is a term used as missionaries. Our 2 year time out here in the Southwestern UK is divided into 6 week segments called transfers. They are called such because on the start of each of these periods we get have the potential to get a new companion, serve in a new area, and/or get called to serve in a leadership position. It is an exciting time.     My First 2 transfers I was in Poole being trained by Elder Stoddart, then this last transfer I was in Poole with Elder Myers. So this is now my 4th transfer. (I get about 16 total)     So the rundown w/ this transfer is this:I am going to Newport Wales. Yup, WALES. My companion will be the district leader there. I am super excited!     This week was alright. Our teaching pool is back down to zero right now and we got bashed by some of our potential friends. The church as a whole is struggling out here. It can be rough sometimes.     But some cool parts of the w...

Corfe Castle And A Full English

Image
Hiya everyone!     This week started off with a pleasant trip to a castle not too far from us over a Village named Corfe. The castle was built round 11AD and was fully functioning until WW1 in which it was destroyed. The ruins remain towering on the hill over the village below. It was quite a lovely time and I got some brilliant pictures especially since a little bout of rain had just passed by. (Ok, I might stop my British tour now)     This week was slower as well but we did our best. Something cool is we got a media refferal from Facebook. A man saw one of our ads, particularly the words "Christ" and "Humilty". He thought that it was a webinar, but he had actually signed up to see us haha. We stopped by his house and because we were "Washed clean by the blood of the lamb" he invited us in to share our message. We introduced and testified of the Book of Mormon and we hope to meet him again.     Another miracle is today in fact. I was messaging a man over...

Seeing Conner

Image
Hiya everyone!     Wow this week just was nuts.      Sometimes out here I feel quite rubbish. I try to share the message but don't see many results. I have felt alone and like I don't know what to do even though I know what I WANT to do. It really has been tough. That was the beginning of the week.     What did I do?: Prayed with my companion for help and committed to do 5 things to be more obedient and able to receive that help from the Lord.     So then the week goes on and I feel a little better, but still really having mostly faith.      Then, Thursday we were called to stay overnight in Trowbridge with some other elders for the Mission Conference the next day. I asked for help from the missionaries about how to do things better and I was really thankful for their help. They know what they are doing.....But then I just felt terrible about myself and super inadequate to them.     What did I do?: Took a Journal, a p...
