Newport, Wales

Hey Everyone!

I gotta keep it brief this week.

Newport Wales is going great. I have been walking at least 2 miles every single day it is crazy. We live in a WAY NICER FLAT holly cow. I got space. We also live in a sketchy city, but in a non sketchy place, university student housing, let's go.

Our congregation is really small, about 40 people. They just started all going back to church as well in person. Covid isn't over gosh dang.

Today we went to Cardiff, the capital of Wales, and got some good baguette sandwiches, a good look at the Cardiff Castle or at least the grounds of it, and I also got some British clothes including that wonderful long button up coat, oh yeah.

Food for the week: I made bread and butter pudding (Bread buttered and sugared with fruit on top. Layer that twice, pour in some eggs and milk and then bake it in the oven and once you pull it out serve with some hot custard. Super good)

I also had a very kind nonmember who gave us a homemade fishcake with SWORDFISH meat. What? It was pretty tasty.

And for our P-day yesterday we went to this little sandwich shop crammed into an alleyway and I got a really delicious baguette with pastrami. Europe has some incredible bread I must say.

Funny story of the week: I went TRACTING, yeah the OG missionaries know. Well anyway upon finishing (and not getting a single door slammed in our face) I decided to take a picture of the street. My companion, Elder Morriss had begun to walk off and so after I took the picture I ran up to meet him. Then I hear a shout from behind me: "Hey you! What do you think you are doing?" It was two middle-aged men and they were mad. I went over to them pleading that "I was an American" and that "I just thought the architecture looked cool" I then showed them my phone and tried to delete the photo in front if them. They were still a little upset, but let me off the hook. Thank goodness.  As I was walking along the pavement to another location, they drove their car up on the dual carriageway and shouted "It's him!" out the car window. I didn't look back.

Something else fun that we should be aware of is that at least not in my area, but in my District we cover a place called Blackwood. We do not go to Blackwood. There is too much witchcraft and sorcery, no thank you. I have heard a few stories now. But just to make you aware, I am in a SAFE part of town, by a university, and I try to get in or at least onto the strip of road along the built up part of town by dark. But I would not feel safe amongst other areas of the town at night.

Anyway, that is my update. Sorry I didn't get this email out yesterday I had a surprise lesson with a friend on facebook. That was fun, I will tell about that next week if things come of it.
