Precise Location
Hiya!
I ticked another item off my mission list. We met with a man this week (The one from Patagonia in the previous email), and we got talking and found out he is the head pastor at 3 Welsh-speaking churches in the area. That is his job. He let us into his Chapel, and we got to look around. It was quite something. On the top of the building (much like our temples), was inscribed the word "Zion". But yeah, it was cool to teach a Welsh Pastor. Don't really see much happening with him though.
We also taught Wendy again this week, and this time she cried when she shared about the Plan of Salvation. She is so sweet and humble, and we look forward to continuing to teach her. I pray she joins the church; she would be so good.
On Wednesday, we had what I call "Old Person Game Night" at the chapel. Since our congregation is so old (average age of 60), we had an activity with really simple pub games, which included bowls, 9-pins ring toss, and darts. Surprisingly enough, our 86-year-old recent convert, Joyce, won our competition. It was so silly. I am happy to know that no matter how old I get, I can still play sports.
We had Zone Conference this week, and I bore my final testimony. It was surreal, but not very momentous if that makes sense. I have done my time and enjoyed it most of that time. The Conference was themed around finding people to teach and was enjoyable. I learned that the quickest way to help someone recognize your message is to share your genuine testimony of Jesus Christ.
On Saturday, we went up to Pembrokeshire in our area for a lesson, and get this:
Look, there are like 25 people that attend the branch out there. We didn't tell anyone that we were gonna be in the area that day, and we just were doing our thing. God is so genius though. As we were driving, a member from the branch (one of the best, mind) got behind us, and we ended up going where they were as well—near a member to visit. So we met them just up the street and visited an elderly lady with them. At the end, we gave a priesthood blessing and got on our way. I find that incredible. The chances could not have been slimmer for us running into a member at that PRECISE LOCATION.
Also, I must confess, yesterday I made a bad mistake. Our friend Wendy and her husband tried to come to church but missed it because the postcode was BARELY wrong. I mean barely. They instead went 100 meters down the road, and when they didn't see the church, turned around and went home. Ngl, that kind of put a damper on my whole Sunday. They will come again, of course, but realizing that if I had just been a little more PRECISE with the LOCATION, they would have come was tough to swallow. And instead of blaming someone else, I am gonna own it as my fault. Lesson learned. Never assume an address is correct until you double-check it.
Also, last night was a bit sketchy. Late at night, a car pulled up next to our flat, and then something went down. A woman was crying in distress, a man was yelling (I don't even think it was English), and I heard the sound of smashed glass. On the top bunk, I had a clear view of the incident, but the people could also see me. As such, I froze as still as possible for several minutes so no one would see me, and then when things seemed quieter, I hopped off the top bunk and ducked beneath the window. We listened carefully and decided to call the police. We were about to call, but then the car left. Hmm.
Today we are gonna go golfing with the district. Wish me luck!
