Out Of Quarantine In Wales!!
Geez, after a little tough patch of quarantine, I was able to get out! Wow, Wales is so cool!
When I got out, I joined three other Elder's up the road in Fforestfach (funny words, ik). They had a really nice flat on a church member's property. The member's were the Berry's! I swear they must be related to me in someway because I have genealogy going back to Wales. Also, just to make things even better, my Companion for a few days was the British Elder Barry. So, that was a fun time to be with him. We were only together for two days, but I enjoyed his British humor and driving skills. These roads are something with all the cars parked on the side and constant roundabouts. Also they don't go in straight paths. Really like a bunch of noodles on the map tbh.
The other 2 Elder's were Elder Hemi and Elder Fue. Elder Hemi was a wild child from New Zealand. Apparently Kiwi's are really fun and yeah, Elder Hemi definitely made it so. Make what you want with that information haha.
Elder Fue was a Samoan Elder. The thing about this guy is he was pretty chill and humble.....until workouts. This man was built different. He got up an hour before the rest of us, chugged a protein powder energy whey mix thing and then just went Marine mode in a workout. He was lifting weights and doing ab ripping. I know it was tough, because when I joined in 3 days ago, my biceps got so sore that I couldn't extend my arm more than halfway for three days. Built different I tell you.
But, yes I did actual missionary work! I went to a member's home and had a Welsh BBQ. He also made a homemade Cadbury
Chocolate Crumble cake. Sooo good. Their meat is much leaner and I was able to destroy 3 burgers, two sausage dogs and a fat slice of that cake.
We also had the opportunity to go street contacting! Now apart from tracting and knocking doors that's as missionary as it gets. I did feel uneasy at first, but me and my trainers got a rhythm down and were able to contact a bunch of people. Over 3 days we were able to get like 6 social medias, 10 numbers, and we handed out a good deal of pass a long cards. We even got some lessons set up! And even if we didn't, we were able to brighten many people's days. And if not, then that's ok. The message is just one of happiness.
I now have significantly less time to communicate apart from this email, and contacting family. I made it to Poole, England yesterday. This is MY area. I am on a mission for real now. I am with a Mandarin Chinese speaking Elder, Elder Stoddart as my Companion. He seems really good. I think Im gonna start learning Mandarin Chinese as well.
Today for P-Day we went to Bournemouth with the other Elders there. We went to the city square and had Nando's and then went mini Golfing. It was really good fun.
I miss you guys a lot. I have had rough days as I worry about home, but I am learning that God will take care of my friends and family as I serve him. That is the great paradox of a mission that I still am trying to understand. I just gave it to Jesus Christ. I know he will take it and bear our burdens with and sometimes for us. I'm so excited to be serving now. If I don't get back to your email I promise I read it. Your emails mean a lot to me. See you guys next week!
