Proper Barn Dance
Hello Everyone!
Monday I went to the beach and threw some frisbee and waded in the water. I also got a nice haircut from a nice turkish barber. They knew what they were doing haha. I also had the opportunity to get that British Suit I have been excited about! I went to a good place called House of Fraser and got one of their suits for a good price. I really like it.
We had our Zone Conference all the way in Exeter on Tuesday. The funny thing was we got notice about that 3 hours before our train to Southampton->Salisbury. We played some UNO flip which is possibly the longest card game haha. We were squeezed on time, but we got to our flat and changed into our stuff and ran out to the bus stop. The problem was the bus was 23 minutes late!! Oh gosh, we thought time was tight but now it was game time. We SPRINTED through town center in our suits to catch the train *just* in time.
Zone Conference was solid. Tons of foundation work they call it. Basically making sure we are keeping standards and constantly getting our studies and preparation in. All this because we are about to get a bunch of fresh missionaries who are gonna need training. We also are opening up new areas, one of which is the French Island of Jersey. Going there would be something haha.
The rest of the week was a lot of missionary work. We got in contact with some friends we haven't seen in several months. We had a lesson with 3 of them. Super great. One of them we knocked on the door of his house and he invited us in. It was a little miracle, because it was his day off.
Saturday night we had a big barn dance. I thought it would be alright, but dang so many people showed up. And, I hate to say it, but they blew an Oklahoman Barn dance out of the water. Now they have some interesting British things they do like, put applesauce on hotdogs, play celtic rock, and square dance. But everyone had so much fun. We had some friends there to and they loved it. I have some videos. DM if you would like them, they can't send over email. I joined in the dancing, but I was so bad at it haha.
On Sunday night we had a fireside for the Youth where we shared about missionary work with them and helped encourage them to go on a mission. They are some of the best youth, I love my British mates. One of them talks to us about friends who he is sharing the gospel with. I love it.
Funny Story: I have mentioned that I sometimes YELL in my sleep. Well it hasn't happened yet. But it happened this week. One dream I had just really got to me and I SHOUTED "WHY DOESN'T HE HAVE TO?!?" 3am. Elder Stoddart got really worried haha. I explained to him that's what I meant about yelling in my sleep.
He isn't innocent either. He gave a lesson in his sleep last night. I woke him up and told him to stop teaching a lesson. That's the level of focus missionaries have, giving lessons in our sleep. It is actually very common.
Hope you guys have great weeks!
Cheers
