What's Poppin'
Hiya everyone.
Last P-day we celebrated one of the Elders' birthdays in our districts. We went bowling and I absolutley sucked. I don't know how, but I did so badly. I was in the gutter 2/3 of the time. I promise I have never done so bad. Also the pins were ON STRINGS. Yes, you heard that right. So instead of sweeping off the old pins and dropping down a fresh new set, some strings just wound up and placed the same pins down over and over again. That may have affected how things went.
One of our friends we met this week is a teacher and she wants us to teach her class about Christianity. That would be fun for the future!
We also had an initiative to send some humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian refugees. The thought was that we would get maybe a few donations and we would donate them to a charity. But in about 5 mins that all changed. During the donation window several cars from the community, entire charities, and some very gracious members managed to fill up the entire lobby with well over 100 bags worth of supplies. The next day we sorted things out and then sent it to Cardiff to create an even bigger load for them to deal with as they were the central location for the other projects in the area. They got some Lorries (Semi-trucks) and have begun shipment of the products down to Poland.
On Friday and Saturday I exchanged for a day with Elder Myers, my previous companion. That was fun. Rarely do you get to be comps with an old companion for the day. We got some good work done and taught a few great lessons.
Sunday was an awesome day. Our friends Babatunde, Docie, Comfort, and Emanuel came to church. They loved it. Everything felt so right so I extended a baptismal invitation and they said yes! We cannot wait to see their progress. The key bit of info that helped with that was the Plan of Salvation and our belief that a Living Heavenly Father won't send us to a Firey Burning Hell. Rather by degrees we will be distanced from him by our own guilt but nevertheless we will be happy with the glory we have prepared to receive.
For this P-day we got some KFC (Holy cow I forgot how amazing fried chicken was.... It has been months since I have had that.) And we just kinda shopped around. Managed to get into a designer clothes store. I don't even get why you would spend £750 for an Off-White shirt.
We had some crazies around Newport as well. One night at the bus stop a large group of drunk lads were walking through and they came up to us and asked if we could do a heel click. We politely declined, but the guy went on to do it himself. Man almost broke his ankles. We also went into a shop that said they had chocolate, but they didn't. They just had a bunch of old people's clothes, Birds in cages...., and a wonderful crazy lad standing on top of a statue at the back watching everyone. Good times.
