BBQ's For Days
Hiya!
For my monday we were lucky to have a bunch of laser guns at the chapel, so we played laser tag with the other missionaries. And I cleaned the flat, which was nice.
This week was full of teachings as well. Some memorable ones were a lesson in which a rabbit kept hopping round and on top of his big cage to snatch food. A man coming up to us angrily thinking we were his employees who were skipping work, but then doing a full 180 and wanting to take the lessons, and having an interfaith conversation with leaders of the Muslim, Catholic, and Unification faiths. Some amazing people they are.
We also had a lot of food of which I am so grateful for. Lots of BBQ food because it is sunny and warm in Britain finally haha. Even baby back ribs! It has been nearly a year since I had those. On the weekend we had a Brazilian BBQ, which was amazing. Brazilians make some of the tastiest food I have ever had. So just a ton of meat, rice, and egg/corn salad, garlic bread and the famous Guarana fizzy drink.
But
Then
My body fought back. Something in that meat wasn't digesting very well and I felt like I was gonna pop. I was just stuck in a ball on the floor for like an hour just struggling through it. I fell asleep on the floor and awoke at like 2am and got into my bed. So just gotta watch out for that meat lol. I am just fine.
Today I had a really great P-day because guys, I AM HALFWAY DONE! WHAT? Yeah, it has been exactly 1 year since I became a missionary. Only 1 left..........
Sometimes, I wonder what I have achieved out here, but when I look back on it actually a lot. And the person that has been helped the most is me. I don't know how I got here, but I made it and I am just so grateful to have the opportunity. I am proud of what I have become. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and how infallible it is. Just try it. Believe that Christ is real, that he is the Son of God and he can do anything. Then learn about him in the scriptures and start working on changing to be like that. I have found that as I do gradually almost imperceptibly you will change. You will be less depressed, your temptations will get weaker, your perspective will expand, your love will deepen, your understanding will increase, and you will be consistently happier regardless of whatever is happening in life. Because that is what the purpose of life is: Learning to be as happy as God is.
But yeah, today we drove down to the Forest of Dean (just inside the border of Wales) and checked out Goodrich Castle. I enjoy these castles a lot. Weird how they just exist here haha. Hundreds and hundreds of years old they are. But the weather was just perfect on this day so it was lovely. Afterwards I got some Sushi and then we headed to the chapel for some table tennis. I got destroyed.
But yeah, I am having one of the best periods of my mission so far. I love you guys. Halfway there.
