Swindon

Wow, Swindon is a great place to be!

 

 

This week was quite busy.

 

 

So to start, we have a car and I have been learning to drive. Which really is just getting on the road and figuring it out. To be honest, it isn't as hard as I thought it would be since my head has adjusted to how everything works on the left side. I don't know how I am doing it to be honest, but I am so thankful to be driving. It really helps with everything.

 

 

I live with two other elders and they are both from France. Elder Raveau and Elder Leroy (pronounced "Leh-hwah"). They are hilarious. One of them is crazier than me even. 

 

 

I moved Wednesday. On Friday we turned around and drove 2 hours to and from Cardiff, Wales so we could get a new SIM card. Yeah, a whole day spent on travel to get a new SIM card haha. I enjoyed it though. I even was able to drive back which wasn't too hard since it was the motorway the whole time.

 

 

Then Saturday we did some service of hammering fence posts into the ground. It was so difficult. We broke 2 fence posts with the hammer and then the hammer itself broke. If you ever need to put in fence posts, use a backhoe or something, because it is nearly impossible otherwise. We got 2 out of the 14 we were supposed to do.

 

 

After we had a BBQ, which was great, yeah. Then we went to another man's house and this guy is known for the sheer quantity of food he feeds us. We got there and to our delight we each had an entire Box of Pizza to ourselves. Even better, it was supreme and extra spicy. I couldn't do it, just too much man.

 

 

The next day we had a BBQ again and I almost didn't make it through the night. I gotta slow down. It is such a blessing to have food though with members. The work is going amazing here as well. I have seen some very wonderful instances of the Lord's hand in the work. My companion is incredible. The absolute best. And some of my companions in the past I have struggled with for their lack of work ethic. I am thriving now that me and my companion both work hard together.

 

 

Elder Gowans is amazing.

Hiya! I ticked another item off my mission list. We met with a man this week (The one from Patagonia in the previous email), and we got talking and found out he is the head pastor at 3 Welsh-speaking churches in the area. That is his job. He let us into his Chapel, and we got to look around. It was quite something. On the top of the building (much like our temples), was inscribed the word "Zion". But yeah, it was cool to teach a Welsh Pastor. Don't really see much happening with him though. We also taught Wendy again this week, and this time she cried when she shared about the Plan of Salvation. She is so sweet and humble, and we look forward to continuing to teach her. I pray she joins the church; she would be so good. On Wednesday, we had what I call "Old Person Game Night" at the chapel.
