UK Driver And Transfers!
******Big Email Alert******
Hiya guys!
So this week was full of errands, most of which relating to driving. God literally made this happen, listen to this:
I got the theory test on Wednesday and I passed it! So after that I look for a practical test and lo and behold out of the hundreds of dates and several test centres it just so happens that Saturday is open in a place called Yeovil 2 hours down the road. The olny open spot for weeks. Oh and this place called Yeovil had one of the highest pass rates in the country.
Before we even go there though we have to get our car fixed as it had a dead headlight.
Now the car is all up to speed and after a restless night we head down to take the test. My instructor has tested tons of missionaries before and I know that he WANTED me to pass.
Pt. 1 Eyesight Test: Straight up could not read the license plate. I did not realize how far away 50 metres is. (Guess my eyesight has gotten worse). But after squinting, blinking, praying, tilting my glasses and stalling I manage to read the 6 letter sequence correctly. Cool, would've instantly failed otherwise.
Pt. 2 The hard manouvre. Oh wait. My man just took me through a 20 mph residential area to a super dead car park and all I had to do was pull in forward and back out. That was it.
Pt. 3 I am following my instructors directions and we get to this heckin busy roundabout. I gotta go right, so I need to wait for a gap (it is reversed since I am on the left side of the road). I am getting impatient because I am gonna get marked for being too hesitant at junctions. So I try to join and RIGHT as I do the whole car stalls, the ABS warning lights come on and I hear a big rev of the engine. If I'd have gone I would've slowed the traffic in the roundabout and instantly failed again. But God saved me literally.
Pt. 4 My independent driving. Took slow back country roads. Easy as pie. Also when I pulled up on the left side of the road my tyre slightly rubbed the kerb. Dude didn't take any notice.
Pt. 5 The results. I got 3 minor marks for signalling before checking mirrors at some intersections. 3 minors is stated as "usually fail". But this was unusual, because he said I had passed. So yeah.
God passed the test. No way I could ever do that again solely based on the eyesight part.
Another Errand: Our fridge/freezer died. So Thursday morning I cooked up 3 gallons of frozen veggies, 50 chicken strips, 2 casarole dishes of fries, and a ton of raw chicken. Just because of previous experience, you don't want the smell of bad food in your flat. Then we took it to district council and shared it with everyone.
Our friends this week were also incredible.
Our friend Cameron is a very normal and solid young adult just looking for the truth. He is seeing the difference the Book of Mormon is making for him. He keeps all commitments and he tries his best to come to church. We think he is ready for baptism and so we are going to put him on date this week.
A returning member reached out saying he is ready to start to get back into it. We came over and the guy is so sweet. He cooked us food. Also, he is a spider breeder. Like, huge Tarantulas. So we got to look at his collection of 200+ spiders and even see him handle this super rare spider from Nigeria of which only a few people in the world own. He started reading the Book of Mormon again which was basically the equivalent of pouring gasoline on a lit match for him. meaning his testimony went from 20/100 to 99/100
We also had a massive Dinner with 20+ Brazilians. At the end we gave the nonmember there a Book of Mormon in Portuguese. He was overwhelmed. He google translated his feelings to me, gave me a hug and took a picture. Beautiful. That is how much I love the Book of Mormon too.
And today we got transfer news. I am STAYING in Swindon with my companion Elder Gowans. Not a problem at all there. The two other French Elders in the flat are moving to other places. So what that means is we get to absorb all of their work. So this transfer is going to be full throttle and I am so excited. Everything has fallen into place and I am so blessed.
Today we decided to visit this place called "Aveburry" which is like stonehenge. It was built the same time and is the largest stone circle in the world. Really just strange. The land was very pretty, but how the heck and why are the rocks there? A lot of the more spiritual folk feel the sight is a sacred gateway or whatnot, so was kind of fun.
But yeah, that is my email guys.
-Onward and Upward-
The Lord can do things that I can't do on my own. And that part of my testimony really strengthened this week. Why worry, He can literally do it and give me success. Just like how He led the children of Israel.
