Great Week

Hiya guys,

This week was fantastic.

We met and taught a guy from Bermuda. Do you guys know anyone from Bermuda? It is a tiny island (22 square miles) under British territories. He loves the gospel but still needs time to prepare to be baptized. It was really cool to meet him though and we look forward to teaching him more in the future.

Guys, the Lord has really prepared the heart of one person we are teaching. Just 2 weeks ago she reached out after looking at our website and wanting to learn more. We met her just over 2 weeks ago and she has been learning about the gospel ever since. She has watched hours of content and been reading the Book of Mormon every day. A few days ago she was praying and she told us that God wanted her to be baptized. It is definitely going to be a big lifestyle change, but I am humbled by how much progress has been made. She came to church for the first time yesterday and she said she had never had so much peace and light in her whole life. Touching. But yeah, this story made my whole week.

Another success this week was with street contacting. I don't know why, but I decided that I wouldn't give myself any feedback whilst talking to people. The plan was to just send it and not analyze the situation as it goes if you know what I mean. And I felt so happy because I finally did it! I felt genuinely proud of how it went and we found people to teach through it. Learned something about myself: Don't critique during the execution.

Also, we made SUSHI! It is fun, I will try it myself sometime when I have extra money to spare. Gotta be careful with that wasabi though haha. Did you know that wasabi sauce is only 0.7% wasabi? Wasabi is powerful stuff.

Also, hilarious story, we had a lesson with our Greek friend Pavlos. He always feeds us. I guess our friend likes pizza super well done because the crust is literally going black and he thinks it's fine. So I manage to get my pizza out and then Elder Gowans is told to put his in and Pavlos sets the oven to 250°C (Like 470°F) for 10 minutes. We tried to fix it and decrease the heat, but Pavlos insisted that we cook it for that time. So after 10 minutes we come back into this very warm kitchen to remove this pizza that is utterly burnt by our standards. Black on top and extra black crust. Elder Gowans says that it might be a "little well done" and Pavlos says it is great and he will take it. The last pizza is our last shot to get this right so we stick it in and all leave the kitchen but before that happens I decrease the temperature without anyone knowing. We get to the living room and I look at my phone and it reads 11:29 and so I say "yeah, we will go check the pizza at 10 minutes so at 11:32" We all go check the pizza and Pavlos says that "oh no, it is not cooked!" and then cranks the temperature back up. We give it another "10 minutes' ' (like 4 actually) and right before Pavlos gets to the kitchen we manage to have gotten the pizza out of the oven and into the pizza box with the lid covering it. We all make it to the living room to eat and have our lesson and of course when Elder Gowans starts eating Pavlos can't help but express the disappointment and apologizes for his oven not cooking the pizza enough. We tried to blame it on how "Oh, this is how we eat pizza's in America '' and that seemed to have done it. However, Elder Gowan's pizza was partially raw, but it was worth it to avoid having it a "little well done"

Today we went to Symonds Yat Rock. Yeah, weird little name innit? Basically a nice little hike along the river that divides England and Wales. The view was wonderful as well. But upon heading back we got trapped in a wicked traffic jam and had to drive for an extra hour to make it home. That compressed everything into less time and we did some last minute service of unloading and moving wooden panels for some members that just moved in though. They are Lithuanian and Venezuelan and they want to feed us. Excited for that.

Doing great guys. Thanks for your prayers.
